The Kalusugan Coalition is a multidisciplinary collaboration dedicated to creating a unified voice to improve the health of the Filipino American community through network and resource development, educational activities, research, community action, and advocacy. We envision a healthy, unified Filipino American community whose rights and needs are met by a quality, holistic healthcare system.

Our Story
Kalusugan Coalition, Inc. (KC) was formed in 2004 when a handful of community members and health workers came together to respond to the fact that there were few wide scale initiatives that specifically address the Filipino American community’s health needs, despite the growing population.
Founding members organized a community health forum and conducted a community health needs assessment to begin the dialogue and documentation of Filipino New Yorkers’ priority health concerns. Since then, KC has leveraged partnerships with various stakeholders including community advocates, faith-based organizations, public health professionals, health providers, community leaders, and researchers to build Filipino health initiatives.
Through capacity building, health promotion, research, and advocacy efforts, KC addresses the areas of cardiovascular health, breast health, health access, community development, and workforce development for community health workers.
